{"id":11094,"date":"2020-11-26T18:20:44","date_gmt":"2020-11-26T18:20:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mrsmcgregors.com\/?p=11094"},"modified":"2021-06-02T19:10:29","modified_gmt":"2021-06-02T18:10:29","slug":"christmas-bags","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mrsmcgregors.com\/index.php\/2020\/11\/26\/christmas-bags\/","title":{"rendered":"Christmas bags"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4>Make this easy Christmas bag in just half an hour!<\/h4>\n<h5>We ditched the Christmas wrapping paper last year and went with fun drawstring bags for our presents.\u00a0 As long as the mice haven&#8217;t eaten them and I can remember where I put them, they will be reused until they fall apart.<\/h5>\n<p>Follow the pics to make your own Christmas bags.\u00a0 You will need:\u00a0 fabric, scissors, trim, cord for drawstrings, sewing machine.<\/p>\n<p>I used half a metre of green glitter cotton, 4 and a half metres of cord for the drawstrings, 1m of ribbon for the casing. You can decorate with fabric initials, pompoms, felt or anything you fancy.<\/p>\n<h4>Step 1<\/h4>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-11095\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mrsmcgregors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/no-fray-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mrsmcgregors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/no-fray-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.mrsmcgregors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/no-fray.jpg 280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/> I used glitter cotton fabric and sewed the seams up each side.<\/p>\n<h4>Step 2<\/h4>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-11096\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mrsmcgregors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/cord-measure-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mrsmcgregors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/cord-measure-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mrsmcgregors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/cord-measure.jpg 373w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/> Chose my trim and cord drawstrings.\u00a0 I like a pull cord from each side. You can save money and cord by only having one pull cord, like a school PE bag.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t forget to add another half metre as when the knots are tied it can get quite short.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<h4>Step 3<\/h4>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-11097\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mrsmcgregors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/seams-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mrsmcgregors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/seams-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.mrsmcgregors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/seams.jpg 280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/> I turned a wide seam over to the inside and stitched round the whole bag top to make a neat top.\u00a0 If you have plenty of fabric, turn it even wider so you can use this top seam for your casing and sew 2 rows of stitiching half an inch apart.<\/p>\n<h4>Step 4<\/h4>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-11098\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mrsmcgregors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/more-trim-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mrsmcgregors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/more-trim-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.mrsmcgregors.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/more-trim.jpg 280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/>I used ribbon for my casing as it doubles as decoration. Stitch it around the top of your bag about 3 inches from the top edge.<\/p>\n<p>Thread the cord through the casing.
